Does anyone have any experience working with the app Genuine Fractals?
http://www.versiontracker.com/dy…
I need to enlarge a rastor image about 10 times for some seriously large format printing and have heard that this program should do the trick.
I just wanted to check it out with the NT crew if there were any reviews, suggestions or alternatives before I buy...
Thanks in advance!!

Have not used it for a little while. It will definitly do the job.

I cant figure if you need to have the original image to begin with, then you scan using their algorythm which enables a high res image but at a small filesize, I dont think it is much use for just sizing up images you have which are already raster at a small size.

worked with it in the past. Pretty good soft-where

you're bang on rasko... if you have a small jpg... even if crisp is gonna look like ass when blown up in GF based on there little info in the original ro work with.
it works really well with images of a decent size and resolution... remeber to save your image as "losless".

dunno if this helps, but just heard someone talking about this app the other day:

Yeah, I've already got a 1632 x 2464 image that I'm already using, so I think the size is fine.
Did you guys use the PS plug-in or the PrintPro program?
Thanks again for the wisdom.

your image size sounds good.
the print pro version does the same thing as the basic GenFractals except it allows you to res-up using CMYK.
(this is a time saver because it takes quite a while to convert from RGB to CMYK on a 500 MB image file)basically, you open up your image in Photoslop, save it as a GenFractals image (.stn) close the image. then open up the .stn and tell it how much to scale up. then you go have a few smokes and in about half an hour it will be done.

i rock the plugin... just remeber to choose "losless" when you're saving as your .stn... also don't try to change the resolution on the image... if the image is 72dpi to begin with keep it at 72dpi in the GF window... only adjust the scale.
