Webdesigners: do you use color proofing in Photoshop while designing? I've always been told to design with Windows RGB color proofing on, so just wondering if that's correct?

i never do because most monitors can show millions of colors now.
to be safe sometimes i click the "web colors only" when choosing colors.

Showing millions of colours is one thing. Showing them in the same gamma is another. I rarely bother, but when I do it's just a quick peek, more out of curiosity than anyhthing else.

it is important to check. especially with dark colors—the gamma differs quite a bit and in some cases can look very different—something that looks 'smooth' on a mac can look 'dirty' on windows and vice-versa.

I just generally make sure my web-based stuff isn't too dark while i'm designing on a Mac. Bright on a Mac ends up looking goth on PC if you're not careful.

funny cause i was actually just brightening up some "dark" images because they looked pretty much black on a PC. why can't everyone just stick to standards!
