Hello, I am doing a logo for a music producer and DJ (who creates across a variety of genres) I think the top one is stronger, but the client asked me to try at least include a 'key' in one of the roughs.Any opinions, Thankyou

Do you mean a key as in to unlock a door, a piano key?
I like the top one, but loose the keyboard on the E, too much iconography going on with the letters.
If it is the doorkey type thing, you could always bullshit and tell him the letters are cut to resemble the ridges and teeth of a key ;)

He meant door key, but i thought the piano key thing would work better as he makes music. yeah the bottom one is supposed to be the ridges on a door key, but reckon it is too illegible.

Hello save, is ouch bad or good? i am not down with the cool people, sorry.
*turns from the computer to wipe away a tear
I took out the record sleeve and record, cos i'm kinda fond of the piano. any better?

does he only play 80's records, that reminds me of a mad eighties logo.

how long does he want to have this logo associated with him? you should consider its timelessness.

not really feeling the typefaces you've chosen. how about something a little more timeless? maybe a flourishing chancery face with your own hand drawn ornaments, or you could modify a typeface slightly to make it look more like a logo...
one more thing, i don't like the literal representation of the keyboard or door key or record incorporated into the lettering either.

Err... he was born in the eighties...
Yep, I think i have been trapped in the land of 80's- too many police academy films.
He dj's prodominantly hip hop /uk garage or grime, but makes lots of types of music. I was trying to avoid the cliches of hip hop... tags, graff etc, think i will go back to the drawing board, and then show them all to him
Thanks for taking the time to check them.

hello fifty50, yep i having been trying to avoid one set of cliches, i have jumped straight into another set.
back to the drawing board :(
