im working with some contours exported from autocad as an eps, and it doesnt let me change the color of the lines to color. it's always a grayscale, checked the color mode it's on CMYK.
why cant i change them to color?!

have you tried "expand" or "expand appearance"?

open your 'appearance' panel and look for anything odd in there... dump it in the bin if there is anything that looks wrong. it might be desaturated or something. what colour are your guides? Grey? Can you select the lines?

at first i thought you meant the pathfinder, but then i figured it out.
wtf does that do? (it worked by-the-way, thank you!)

i could select the lines, but theyd just revert to grayscale equivolants. expanding worked, whatever that does. (still waiting for possible explanation)

bit complicated for me to explain it in english, but i'll try:
for example, if you have a stroked object, you can have that stroke outlined by "expand" option (also theres "outline stroke" option). basically it brakes apart selected objects. i have used it to brake apart pdf-s to get some specific object out.
