This was the best. I miss that shit. The soundtrack to my teenage years.
When the east coast was dissapearing up it's own ass, the west was doin it G-Funk style.
I remember smoking ma first spliff with California Love blasting from my stereo. Yeah it's an over-played track, but that shit was transporting us mentally to cali. We wuz like there on the wide open roads of LA, rolling down the streets sipping on gin and juice - laaaaid back, with ma mind on my money and my money on my mind.
Hot boxing arund the streets of Leeds one summer with Dre proclaiming - who's the man with the master plan? A nigga wit a motha fuckin gun!
awww jeah. The fucking agression. The adolescent bravado. The funky basslines. The droll rapping style of snoop dogg. And all those "Only God Can Judge Me" posters on my wall.

Not to many years ago I remember bumping "Above the Law's , Murder Rap" track so fucking loud in my ride. If the D.O.C. "no one can do it better" cd hit my system it played at least 20 times straight. I'm still rollin' 12 inches and dual fosgates well into my 30's. Peace.

I miss...
1.summertime in the LBC (from LBC ....it really gets a bad name, but to people who live their its seriously comfortable, and wouldn't want to live anywhere else)
2. Westside Connect Gang, Daz and the rest of them, Mack 10..gangstas dont dance they boogie...
3. Most of all...you guys can clown here, whatever as much as you like, but I liked this man for his lyrics, and he did have it pretty hard. I don't agree with things he did (against the law and morals) but, I admire his tenacity to keep pushing. Even though he wasn't well liked... he was well respected...
..Tupac.

west coast rap had it's time and place. I still believe it was never as good as east coast, native tongues, juice crew, ditc crew, Boot camp.. all those guys posessed way more talent and that's just to name a few.
Some of the west coast stuff that I dug back then was NWA [some of the illest beats ever] Del + Hiero crew, Pharcyde, Too short, etc. Dre fell off big time, I know you guys will disagree, but since the Chronic he has never been in the same league as the rest of the players.

Big ups Demain with the Above the Law reference. I still rock almost all of their shit on my iPod. And I'm still laughing about the RBL Posse shit. A buddy of mine in college used to play that non-stop.
The West Coast era was fantastic. NWA, CMW, E-40, Too Short, Pac... now we have to listen to Ja Rule and Cassidy on some R&B crap.
so sad.
