i did my federal taxes last night and am getting around US $700 back.
used the tax cut software and found it awesome.
i have all these education expense receipts that i've saved but don't know how to apply them. is that in the state tax part? i got no prompts for it.

haven't done a tax return in 4 years I'm going to jail one of these days for sure

i would strongly urge you to go to an expert. (not HR block though, they suck ass) last year i did my own taxes as usual. I was getting back about 1200 dollars, after seeing an expert, I got a check for 6,400. There are hundreds of expenses I wasn't claiming, and didn't know you even could claim...

I havent even received my tax statements from my employer yet. But this year should be good. I'm guessing around $2000 canadian.

_salisae_ go through something like TurboTax.com next time, the interest you pay on your educational loans or even personal loands is considered a deduction. It pushes your return up in dollars, to your advantage.

i haven't sent my file in yet -- i'll make an appt. with H&R instead.
what will we DO with all the cash?

yes absolutly go to a tax accountant. about 50-100$ to do it and its well worth it.
and i second that about h&r block. i went to them last year and they suckkkkkkkkkkkeedddd

I recommend turbotax - doing mine tonight - I have used them the last 4 years very quick/easy/cheap and you get your return in a few days.

i think i'm going to eat shit again this year.

I have been going to H&R block. The guy is really helpful. He gives me a lot of unrelated financial advice. It has been costing like around $150+ though.
I am hesitant to do it myself as I'm afraid I will miss out on some deductions. Plus going through an expert can probably keep you out of trouble.
I hope to get back at least a few grand as I have kids, pay a lot in taxes and bought a house last year.

i would go to an independant person ratehr than h7r block or soemthing

my tax software says that any supplies i paid for concerning my education have to be paid directly to the school.
that is ridiculous!
of course apple has taught me a lot but they are not my school!!
is there a way around this? or something i am missing?
- GreedoLives0
