I'm changing the height of some 400 lines on screen in flash...
speedwise which do you reckon si quicker?
changing the height dynamically
...or...
making each line a movie clip that has a tween bettween 1 and 600 when frame 1 the line is 1 and 600 is 600 in height, and telling the movie to go to the right frame?

dynamic AS as long as you know how to actually do this.

I'll give it a go

If you can, I think it'll be quicker using a 1 pixel by whatever length fill that gets resized. Lines seem very slow.

access the _yscale or _xscale depending on horizontal or vertical.
Much better than tweening.

would _height be quicker than _xscale ?

(_height would be used instead of _yscale not _xscale)
yes and no.
depends on how you want to have them resize.
It's aww aboot maths.
If you have definite sizes you want them to take on use _height
If you want to be proportional use _yscale
Also depends on wheter you want to set a variable which you then assign to the _height property, if everything should be the same height, otherwise if they're all different heights might be better to use the _yscale as you change it with percentages....
