in winXP, how is it possible to switch the default "open file" view from "list" to "details"? for example in illu, when control+o, then the files are in list view and i have to switch it every time to view details.
quite a stupid question, i know...

I don't know about XP, but in 2000 under View > Folder Options there is a button to make all folders look like the current one.

yes, i know that, but that is not going to affect the control+o view options in whatever program, only the explorer file view options

Oooh, I see what you mean.
No idea, sorry. :\

when u do control+o there's a "View Option" icon to the right of the "New Folder" one - that should do the job...

well yes, but is possible to have the "details view" as a default? quite annoying to have to change it every time

I'm sure that it is entirely possible, but after a brief search I've come up with little to nothing. It might be worthwhile to ask at Winguides.
