I showed it here once b4 and let it demo for an hour or so... but had to take it down... it bascially reads the list every X seconds/minutes... and compares the list to see risers and fallers....
thinknig of hooking it up to a screen grab engine I have in Director and making a quicktime of a day on Newstoday... would be like a Koyannisquatsi (spelling!) moment.

i am devloping a java system that can handle about 1500 connections at once and relay xml data. Does NT have 1500 simul connections?

it would be slow.
veeeery slow..
- nUBBER0
not really cos it uses NIO multiplexing same principal as mobile phone networks i.e timesliced data streams.

java can handle it much, much better than flash.
and another important issue:
'teh drama factor' would reach apocalyptic levels.
- nUBBER0
yes the framework will handle the casting of the data to each client that will then process the xml.

i like NT the way it is,
but flash would be faster, less bandwidth and make the PVN more like instant messenger ... would be faster communication...
could be really slick if done right...

normally i love flash. but right now, i hate flash because that's what's making me stay here in the office later than usual.
with that having been said, NT is working fine for me, so i don't really see the need to construct it using flash (and automatic refresh can be annoying sometimes anyway)

Funny, back when we were waiting for this new version of NT I thought it would embrace Flash...maybe NTv3...
BTW, James, you rock! (read: show me some code goodies)
