Why are we still stuck with Arial and Verdana? For the love of God why!?!

because the browser renders html with whichever fonts it has available on the system. You didn't know that?

they are called system fonts
they are read by the server for the viewer

so in order to get rid of those fonts we basically have to kill everyone?

font god crashed my mac :(
software needs to move on - all in favour of more choice for system fonts? Is OpenType the way forward?

sure, but the problem is backward compatibility.

besides, never change a winning formula. verdana, arial, helvetica etc. are still ok. nuffing wrong with 'em.
