it can be done.
draw your image in straight lines with pen tool. select all. effect>stylize>round corners....then set the radius. only thing is, draw it at the scale you want the first time. if you change the size it will get deformed because it keeps the radius curves. just try it and see for yourself.

I struggle with this as well, I always want my vectors to be painfully accurate but it just seems so hard. Smart guides piss me off so much. O normally use a combination of normal guides and zoom in about 1600%.
Not really a solution ... but

well drawing with pen and specific-angle smart guides will help you get most of the way there i guess, and then just round the corners...
or what is it you need that the above does nott give you?
- vburo0
ok, well then hand me the "seppuku for dummies"-book pls.
- designerror0
no, can't be done. now go to bed and forget about it

Got a question about Illy's Traitor.
Is there a way you can make the pencil tool draw say, only perfectly straight lines at set angles and curve in the corners with a set radius?
i remember seeing some filter that helps you do it but i totally forgot it's name and url.
