or try to print to ps file (post script)?

sounds like it wont let you save an eps or something

try placing (file>place) the file in another (new) file and then saving out... i know that's helped in some cases where ill has given the same bogus memory warning.

had the problem in photoshop once when working with 250+mb files, but i got around by giving it scratch disk in pref.

figured out what the problem was (at least for this particular file). Thought I'd share in case it helps someone else.
The dimensions of some of the art work was too large. when I scaled everything down 50% it saved like a charm.
Create a new document, create a rectangle that's like 125" x something... and then try and save it as an eps. Illustrator then shits itself.
Thanks for all the suggestions everyone.

have you tried exporting as a legacy eps?
- fugged0
i haven't tried a legacy eps. printer requested an illustrator eps specifically.
isn't a lack of memory on the computer. file is about 200K and I've got 2 gigs of RAM.
I searched the forums at Adobe and found out it's a known problem, with no real fix. From what I read most cases you just need to start from scratch...
ty adobe. I love you.

what about disassembling the file to isolate the trouble spots?
we've had to do that before..
clear stray points, delete unused swatches, brushes, styles etc.
then take elements off an paste them in a new document and try saving without them. if it works, it should help you figure out what's causing the ruckus.
might be faster to redraw the damn thing tho :P
