that i just bought, external, im using my old hd case.. and when i plug to my mac and try to format/partition it, it just pauses the process...
anyone know of any way to fix this?

did the old external case have a board that the hd has to be plugged into?
if so, make sure the hardware is compatible.
- usrper0
yea it does... but doesnt it all?
how might i check the compatibility?
mac detects the drive fine, disc utility shows up with correct drive space, but somehow when i format it just stops..

I thought this was some kind of promotion.

i had a usb drive a while back that didn't work with any drive except the one it came with...
i don't know mac hardware that well. what type of drive did you buy? what type of external case do you have?

hd is western digital 120 g.. forgot the other specs..
case is just a plastic usb 2 case..
could it be that its not compatible with mac?

its more likely a jumper issue
- sparker0
yea, i overlooked the jumper issue.
- usrper0
so maybe i need a new case?

sounds like it just pauses in the process, when you are trying to partition it
- usrper0
yes.
