  Right, Im transfering all my tunes onto my new external HD (45Gb worth!), once they are copied whats the best way to ensure i dont have to reinput everything into iTunes once I delete the files from my internal HD?

  I really dont want to have to input 700 playlists!!!!

  You wont need to alter itunes. just point itunes towards the new folder on your Ext hd.
  you may have to add all the files to your library again but this won't affect your playlists.

  are you sure you need 700 btw?
