why would drinking the very toxins your body is trying to get rid of make you healthier?

i've got this military survival guide that says that you should never, under any circumstances, ever drink urine, even if you're in the middle of the desert and it's your only source of water.
it says it'll really fuck you up.

for the sake of science i tried it.
when i got home i brewed up a nice cup off cofee, poured it on my genitals, pissed on my leg and threw my shit on the wall.
didn't smell like coffee... at all. it could be because i used jelly beans instead of coffee beans though.
i'm not much of a scientist.
