Are there any apps for macs that allow you to make keyboard shortcuts to run apps and keyboard executions such as these programs on windows: winkey, nvidea nview?

Interesting concept.
But judging by the date on that Winkey release... they gave it up in '99.

they gave it because it worked so well, that they no longer needed to update it.
On my windows PC, i have keyboard shortcuts for almost all my main programs and it helps speed up things so much.
for example:
alt+p = opens photoshop
alt+i = opens illustrator
alt+m = music player
alt+i = web browseryou get the picture? I'm using dual displays and im tired of moving to one screen to hit the dock bar just to open an app.

look at quicksilver for the mac.

THATS FUCKING DISGUSTING!!!!!!

On OSX, why not launch everything and leave it running (and dont ever shut down, just sleep)...then all you have to do is switch between apps...use the Cmd-tab popup switch menu thingy.
or try...

i dont care for the interface design of how it looks dita. Its the function that works so well. Once you map the shortcuts to what you want the commands to be, it runs hidden in the background. don't trip.

- jimeeboy510

sorry bzzzp...had to act busy here at work. but i checked out quicksilver's developers site and it didn't say much about creating keyboard shortcuts...more like a quick search and execute app. correct me if I am wrong.

Have you looked at System Preferences > Keyboard and Mouse > Keyboard Shortcuts (allows customising of shortcuts for any app on 10.3 at least). Not sure if you can set a shortcut to launch apps though.
Try searching on VersionTracker:

thanks for all the help guys...ill keep truckin!

well, you can set it to toggle from any key you want.. so let's say you prewss control-space (default), then p, then enter - depending on what you have in your apps, it will open photoshop...
dunno, it does nicely for me because of the mix of apps and files...
also saw this on versiontracker:
http://www.versiontracker.com/dy…never used it but mebbe what you want...

I couldnt figure out how to get it working correctly using the keyboard shortcut settings in preferences, but I found this 3rd party app that does what I want:

winkey on mac's is frowned upon up here.

Launch Bar is a great way to launch apps, press Apple+space then type the first 3 letters of the app, webpage, or email address, and it gives you a search listing. press up or down depending on what it has chosen (usually the right one straight away) and you just press enter. nice and fast.
its on version tracker

launchbar is not free. qs does same and is.
