flash file size

I've got 3 flash banners I'm doing for Yahoo. They're being pretty stringent with their max size guidelines of 30K.
My exported size is around 77K right now. So I basically need to cut this puppy in half. I've cut layers/frames where I can. There is no sound so can't optimize in that area.
What are some good tips to getting the final file size down to where I need it? Without have to cut chunks of the animation out?
thanks,

Try getting rid of un wanted files in the library then export the files again

no it is nothing to do with the library. only the objects on the stage are calculated for the final size(if you attach objects from library they will too).
try playing with the image compression properties, you can set them down as 50 and see what happens, get rid of the keyframes as much as you can, well try to optimize sound as well. and if you are exporting for flash 5 there are numerous third party softwares that compress it like you are exporting in flash mx.

good luck

make sure you don't have any key frames around that aren't doing anything because they take up file size. Maybe cut down on the tweens if possible. Hard to accuratly know without seeing the banners

thanks. yeah, no images(jpg/gif) so jpg optimization isn't helping. I'll try and clean house as much as possible.
Do you know of a flash optimizing program for the mac off hand?
i found one but i believe it was only for pc.

omg! 77kb and no images ? If I were you I would dig the sound chunks. I think they are the main reason of the size.
I am a pc geek so I can't help with this, swfoptimizer I have heard for pc, I am not sure they have mac option

Dont tween on the timeline use this instead.
Optimize images individually by right clicking them in the library and going to their properites.
Optimise Vectors using form compression from within flash.

you could try optimising the number of nodes in your vectors through freehand modify>alter path> simplify
that could help by the sounds of it. after that reduce any shape tweens you have

if you have motion tweens and alphatweens etc - use actionscript to make them work, and not by clicking the tween tool thing in Flash. i think that it reduces the file size by 2/3.

I think I just found the problem. The company's vector logo that is at the end of the animation contains embedded .png files. When I deleted the logo from the timeline to test, my final size dropped to 22K. Big difference.
Any way to convert those embedded .png's in the illustrator art before I import?
I think that will solve it.

yup place it in a locked layer create new layer and draw over it.
also if it has less color you can try to export it as gif maybe.

okay.
