I said they should buy out all of acta's customer list at like dirt cheap rates.....they would skip up the ladder from 100th largest hosting company to like 75th or higher...
smart move (mt) smart move....

just read this over at tdr's forum, says something about cl stopping and some continueing under a different name, sorry if this is a repost. copy/paste a copy/paste:
If I contact you it's because as you have probably seen, Computerlove.net is down for many weeks now. I have a bad and a good news, the bad one is that Computerlove.net no longer exists. If you want to know a little bit more, this project is a collaboration between two teams, one in Paris and one in Brussels. As we both have a totally different vision/strategy of what should
be a design portal, it was not possible to continue together anymore. The deal is that Paris keeps the "brand" and us the "technology". They most probably will continue something alone. The good one is that, here in Brussels, we start a new portal dedicated to
the creative industry: more powerful, simpler, all coming with a lot of new energy (Computerlove was really frustrating as we did many compromises every day). The bad point is that we start it from scratch, in term of visitors
and brand awareness. Anyway, we are motivated like never!
Now you know...Another huge and sincerely thank you for all the involvement of you guys in
this project, it was an excellent time sharing the passion with you! But Hey! The adventure is not over. Speak to you really soon.Cheers, Fred, Geoff, Jérôme and Friends.

sad, but at the same time exciting.
Guess we have to wait a while till we find out what they have up their sleeves.Speaking about design portals, does anybody know when wellvetted is going to relaunch?

didn't Computer Love get a fawning article written about how it was the future of online exhibitioning on the internet in Grafic a few months ago?
- nRIK0
ah thats sad to hear, i really liked the way ComputerLove's system was organised and how it worked; different, professional, original.
At the same time though, I am curious to see what comes out of this as well[also, sorry for posting the link to the postercontest a few days ago if it had affected CL]

just received an email from cl today. cl is still on. according to that e-mail cl will be as it always has been. no mention of going seperate ways. and the postercomp is still on. what's going on?
- abizzyman0
this thread reminds me of one of those LAN parties where everyone accidentally ends up having loads of gay sex afterwards...
.. and then proceed to pop the pimples off of each other's backs.
counterstrike anyone?
- rabattski0
some call that wishfull thinking abizzyman.

odd

ofcourse its still on! why lay down a great site like that just because of a server crash? i wonder if they make up a new layout or just use the one they have (they must have it backed up!) anyway, its nice with a fresh start too.
- rabattski0
patt, reread the thread and you'll know what's odd. there's this e-mail posted from one of the guys from cl about a split of cl.

Just got this in the mail from computerlove:
Due to several problems with its previous server and a large scale hack, Computerlove.net is currently unavailable.
We are unable to recover exhibitions files, or any personal information previously published on the website. We apologize for any inconvenience it may cause.
We are currently working on a new website (graciously supported by Mediatemple), and we hope it will be fully functional in the next weeks.

Xrtions said it best... personally, i am excited to see what goes on with both new ventures... i loved CL for its quality links and relevant discussion [not to mention a great pool of talent/inspiration]... so we shall see what happens.
[speculation to follow]
i am guessing that the paris division who has kept the brand hasn't announced anything about a split because they don't want to scare people away with talks of division, etc...
- rabattski0
how can you scare people away from something that is a free service?
