I just bought a Cannon A95 - am very psyched about using it. Cannon only makes 2 add on lenses so I have been looking around for some generic ones. Does anyone know of some resources/places to buy these generic lenses?
I assume they exist.

I had an A70 and I bought a Digital optiks brand generic wideangle from Ebay. Gotta warn ya...the images I took were really clear in the center and only got blurrier towards the edges. If I could do it again I'd go Canon all the way and pay a bit more for the quality.

any idea how I could word a google search for generic lenses/optics?

hahaha - no really I am serious, I have looked around but sometimes the right syntax helps.
for example - we all know dpreview is a great site for digital cameras - but if I just googled digital camera reviews I would get 20 million results.
so I am just looking for some advice and direction from my knowledgeable peeps

you could start by spelling Canon the right way

alright alright - you guys are being pretty hard on me.

Look through there. Bunch of add on lens pieces.

toful, i'm just joshin' -- it's 9:00 PM here, brain's not wired for serious thought.
Good luck. I'll shut up now. ;)

maybe I am looking for the wrong thing - you know that Beastie Boy video where they are on top of that roof with a few different cameras rolling - I want to get a lens that will give me that effect

i think what you want is a fisheye lens... or to lesser degree a plain wide angle lens...
so for a start i guess you want

then you can use anything (just about) with a 37mm mounting thread, such as the "Raynox HD-3030PRO High Definition Semi Fisheye Lens 0.3x" that description mentions:

etc etc

apparently there is also a 52mm adapter ring:

(scroll down to A95)

start with raynox
The optics are not as good as canon. I have the 180pro, but by the time you get the adaptors on it cuts down the FOV to about 160. The only way to have the range you want is by shooting digital SLR.

i would buy a canon to nikon adapter and buy super cheap and excellent nikon lenses + tons third party lenses...
- toful0
brand names? websites for these third party lenses? I am looking for some resources.

I have purchased from this company before for my g3 - very good prices.
