Perhaps you are trying to choose an ironically not distinct typeface, but if not you may want to consider setting it in something other than helvetica. Something more.. distinct.

sorry, not feeling it. the word distinct has some great letterforms that just arent being justified with helvetica

try and tie the word together somehow - needs some element to let you get away with just using the font like that.
check out some sites on logos - search the PBS.

yeah it needs to be distinct, when I see those logos, I see generic.
try searching for a nice modern typeface that speaks the message
