i have a nord lead keyboard that i'd like to do some recording with directly to one of my computers.
what kind of cable would i need and what's some good cheap/free software for some simple recording (with a simple learning curve).
all the best.

depending on how the keyboard outputs the left and right channels:
if left and right rca's... get an rca cable that turns into a simple mic jack...
if it's just a studio headphone type output (patchchord jack too)... get a patchchord to mic jack wire.
hit up your local Guitar Center or like Music Store (or even a radio shack) - let them know the output from the keyboard and the input to the machine.
Then - if you're on the mac - get a copy of Reason... if on the PC - rock yourself some SoundForge.
Happy Producing!

thanks for the responses
tho, even if reason did work, it'd be too expensive.
any other software recommendations?
