Maya b/c it has a free demo to learn with on a mac and most studios will have at least 1 seat of it. Plus, I guess it depends on what you want to do with it. Max is the other one, but I don't think it's on a mac.

I've been using Max for over 7 years and began learning Maya recently. Very intuitive app.
Your on a mac so your choices are limited, but Maya rocks.

thank you, started looking into cinema 4D but starting to think about maya.
"undo"- I just want to get an early understanding of a 3d program, mainly to create enviroments and objects to take and use in aftereffects.

i agree with the maya posts here,
c4d is fine for what you need though, it's not as steep of a learning curve and it's much less expensive.
