Fonts You Wanted thread bumped for those interested.

excellent patnoodle!
i am still looking for a somewhat techy but still elegant sans-serif for a logo. It's for a company working in the field of industrial painting, but in the highest (most modern/technological) degree..

"Does anyone else think that Fonts are seriously overpriced?"not really, it keeps them from being abused/overused by little kiddy frontpage "web-designers"...
and after just finishing a font myself [not the whole typeface/family yet], i say the designers def deserve every penny

Not at all, considering the increadible amount of work and skill it takes to develop a good typeface.
... what bothers me though is all the people on NT asking that people send them free copies of typefaces.
- 5timuli0
It's not thr peice of typefaces that bothers me, it's the fact that the majority of foundries don't offer a 'try-before-you-buy' service.
How are you supposed to convince a client that they need to purchase a particular typeface if you're not able to show them an example of how it will look in situ?
I've only ever come across one foundry that offers this service. Can't remember which one it is, but you send them a list of characters you want to use and they send you a cut down version of the face so you can test it before buying.

yeah i agree. they should be free at pitch stage until you get the go ahead, then purchase them if you decide to use them/win the client.
like stock pics for downloads etc.
sure you cant police it very well, but surely youd get more people buying than what is happening currently?
ps: dax.. is a bit yuk now ii think.. dunno why. and didnt mcdonalds use that for a while? or was it abbey national before it became abbey.. i dunno.. anyway, what about bliss if you were tempted by dax? http://www.typography.net/type/b…

Some not so new Sans faces but good for a wide range of applications:

Anyone considering using Futura should have a look at Avenir. It's really easy to make Futura look like shit but Avenir's a bit easier on the eye.

stimuli said it.
i got an illegal copy of a font from someone tonight in order to proper comp a whole new ID for a client.
If the client approves he needs to buy all the licenses for the computers it will be used on.
also: buying a font pays off for the designer in a nice way too, you usually get some neat extra's!
for instance the fontshop sends me all these magazines and booklets about fonts!! :)

btw. i choose Dax for this ID.
it's tight and curvy at the same time.. i'll be needing it for a company delivering "care" in quite a broad sense.
and it comes in a ton of weights..
this is medium:
