Just got off the phone with a friend of mine who owns a printshop ... said he's pretty sure thermography wouldn't give me the smooth texture I'm after .. his idea was that booger glue stuff which might just work .. I'll check it out on Monday.
Anyone know any good binderies or finishing houses?

I ran a poster a while back on a press that had two UV units in it which allowed me to overprint a gloss varnish over a dull varnish. It produced interesting results that I was pleased with, but I doubt it's the look you're after. There is no visible edge or dimension to the UV coatings.

i personally don't like thinking about the wax.

it's the most unique place i've ever been. i don't know how else to describe it.
i'm just frustrated because the work scene here is not to good. more than half of the city's residents are unemployed.
but i know everything there is to do here, and there's more than a lot of people think.
