I sure loved my minidisc back in the day. Now I really want an ipod mini. I think your attempt to compete is going to go over like a lead balloon. Please come out with a pretty little thing with no moving parts and no proprietory formats and I will come back to you.

blah ... for Sony, whos usually top notch in industrial design .. this is rather shit. I can see where the designers wanted to take liberties, but were to afraid to stray from what apples successes already were. This is not an ipod killer for ALOT of reasons.
the only thing on the market now that comes close to the ipod is the Rio Carbon http://www.digitalnetworksna.com… .. and thats only comparable to the ipod mini, as its only 5gb ... if they made a 20gb version of this puppy ... then there might be some debate ... but thats about it for now ... keep at it though sony ... i still have hopes for decent ipod-like devices.

definitely poop. I have no idea why Sony fucked up getting a decent audio player to market. MD is ancient and inefficient.
The PSP is going to play MP3's and Mpeg4s. on up to a 1gb Memory Stick..it looks good, but those memory sticks are hellah expensive.
Sony has certainly missed the boat and is trying to do the doggy paddle upstream.

The ipod owns it. Plan and simple. Instead of wasting time and money trying to be the "next" ipod.. companies would be better off bring something new and refreshing to the table. But they all sit on their asses waiting for Apple to do so. Won't be long now befiore we see "Mac Mini Killers" from the PC world.
Sony will not get people to use their file format, there will not be 100 third party products made to work with it, there will not be an application that syncs seemlessly to it, there will not be car deals, commericals from other product companies, rip off models, mock design ads, flooded message boards, or any of the rest of it about it.
Just another piece of "wanna-be" junk on the shelf for Walmart shoppers.
