rockabilly fo sho (just for the haircuts and stylee guitars)... also have a huge soft spot for country just cos of the southern accents and the brilliant story telling that goes with it :)
last night i saw this awesome banjo player at the borderline called william elliot whitmore, he has this incredibly gravelly voice - like if Tom Waits was good looking and played the banjo - honestly, give a man a banjo and a bit of stubble and i wanna have his babies!

o man. don't get me started on the bloooos.
Current fav is probably Son House or Blind Willie Johnson. I agree though, Leadbelly rocks.
The Kurt Cbain cover of the Leadbelly version of "Where Did You Sleep Last Ngiht?" often finds itself being played here.

Check out Johnny Burnette, Link Wray, Robert Gordon, and Carl Perkins. A Rockabilly primer.
For the blues, try on Robert Johnson, John Lee Hooker, the three Kings–Albert, BB and Freddy, Muddy Waters, and Howlin' Wolf.

social distortion, and Mike Ness's solo albums especially.
- rabattski0
i'm an sd fan, i have mike's solo records, but sd isn't rockabilly, nor are his solo records rockabilly. sure, it's a matter of defenition, but that is not even close imo.
- kreydle0
hmm, his solo records have quite a "rockabilly" sound... His music is a blend of old rock 'n roll (Elvis, Clash, old Country N western, and rock punk - Ramones, etc...)
I was making a recomendation.
Lighten up a little.
- rabattski0
dude, i'm so lightened up, if i would be more lightened up i would fuckin' catch fire. anyways, yeah good recommendations but, again, it's all a matter of taste and defenition. but those records are in my head by far not filed under rockabilly. sd = rock 'n roll / punk rock. mike ness = honkytonk / rock 'n roll / c&w. i mean have you ever heard rockabilly with a slide guitar, mandoline and fiddle?
- usrper0
yea, dont they have another term psychobilly for the punks?
- MLP0
