is that a question? if so no...
- clerk0
yeah, why not? but i don't like the idea of a touchscreen tho.

A video iPod would be too small to watch too... mini dvd players are proof that no one wants to watch movies on a 3 inch screen.

dan, dunno if the negative success of those portable dvd players would mean that there's no demand for portable dvd players and thus a video ipod would lead to a failure.
those portable dvd players that are out there already are still too big, too clunky, have a too short battery life and are imo still too expensive.
i think that there could be a market for a better and smaller portable video player. dunno if video ipod is the answer. but it's all a matter of functionality and price etc.

the hype machine

opens apple up to another load of piracy hassle, films etc.
ar seems like a bit of a joke.

"Hey Jack, with this new video Ipod we're designing - we have a full colour screen to play the videos on - lets keep the menu all mono and boring".

not sure if im off the track, but people downloading films, etc, illegally, cant just rip a dvd onto your computer and then stick it on there. 1. Will take years with some peoples setups and 2. where does the law lie with ripping dvds?
have to be some regulations, ie. music store style, but a majority of people dont have the connection to download a film,

ar i dont know, just rambling now, lol

wont happen, they've looked into it and they said people only watch movies once or twice unlike music which u can listen to the same track over and over again.

soon when all tvs are digital and we're recording the broadcasts to our hds. wouldn't it be nice to watch the 9 o'clock news on the subway to work?
- rabattski0
technically it's an interesting topic. anyway what ible says is valid as well. although it's a dynamic culture with dynamic needs so i don't think that one can say right off the bat that there's no demand for it. for instance there never was no actual demand for a cd to start with but there was a demand for a scratch / noice free longer lasting medium(not really a comparison but it just shows that it's hard to predict what could work or not).
anyways, ftc, there is no virtual difference between watching movies on your computer or watching movies on a mobile unit (let alone the fact that the viPod seems to be fake). so these piracy issues are already going on. i don't think apple would have a piracy issue at all. if so, then all mobile computer manufacturers would have these issues already.
anyways, about rippind dvd's. it's just as ripping cd's. back in the days people thought that no one would be ripping cd's since it's too time consuming and due to size limitations. that has changed dramatically. same will happen to ripping dvd's. it'll become more faster and more easier, mass media will be bigger and faster. i would go even so far by saying that at one point there won't be even discs anymore. just extremely small chips with huge data capabilities. now in that future there is no issue anymore about ripping, mobility etc. just slide in the card and it's there instantly. i think no one will have any problems with smaller screens or checking stuff (news etc. will be more likely) out on the road.

Wouldn't it rock if they could offer wireless on Subways/trains/busses - commuters. Then everyone could download porn and ask the hot chick sitting next to them "what you think of this clip". The perfect pickup line!

Jobs said 'no video - it's not worth it and won't work'.
That was when the picture one was released.

Jobs has also said no on lots of things... and then all of a sudden he will launch what he said no to.
