I have a PB connected to a PC network at work and my IT guy setup my account for me. Its not a local account, but its a network account, meaning, if I am not connected to the network, I can't even log in to the computer.
It doesn't make sense for me to have a PB for work that has to be tethered down in order for it to work. Is it possible to configure my account so that if I am not connected to the network, I could at least still log in and access local profile and settings?

if the admin that set it up to be this stupid to begin with made that option available to him...

But if i set up a local profile, it won't sync my stuff to the network (entourage & other settings), will it?
Still looking for a better answer...anyone? A tethered down PB doesn't make jack sense to me, otherwise i would have opted for the dual processor g5 tower.

Have they put your Home folder on the network? They should be able to do it with Home folder on the PB, but so it synch mail and stuff when connected, either in office or over a VPN connection shouldnt they?

Im not too familiar with setting up VPNs...can somebody give me more details about this? Thanks ribit.
