watching Good Fellas on the Lifetime Channel. Stacks just got wacked by Tommy and then, boom, cut to commercial, where an ad for Menopause Relief is followed by one on Alzheimer's research.

It's funny how people still prefer to watch films on TV. A few months ago lots of friends were messaging me: "The Matrix on channel 4 tonight". Of course, everyone had it on dvd, vhs or divx at least and could see it anytime they pleased. So why would anyone want to watch it with commercials at the hour specified by a TV company? When I said that, they went "yea.. actually, you're right, I see your point.. but don't forget, it starts at 8, channel 4!"
Matrix is so real.

shaft,
it's so that they can speak about it the next day at work...
Saves them having to fuel the gossip furnaces.

It is a social thing. You get the feeling that you take part in a bigger event. And "if everyone will be doing this tonight, it's the thing to do". This is the matrix..
And it reminds me of Cialdini's books http://www.amazon.com/exec/obido…
Did you know, that in the next two days after a celebrity suicide, the suicide rate increases? Why? "If HE did it, I shouldn't hesitate any longer"
People are sheep.
