What is your trick to make your monitor see something close to what the printer see's?

You have to be like Indiana Jones in The Last Crusade and run through blades, and a weird floor, and an invisible bridge for that to happen.

// tried that, wasn't impressed with the results...

Trust your swatchbook not your monitor.

Have your frekkin printer print you print-samples, for print's sake.

// well yeah... i know to get proofs printed...
but i'm talking about screen calibration here. I know it's pretty much a lost cause, but i'm seeing if anyone has tricks.

Calibrate your monitor with a spyder or eye-one calibrator. Then, create an ICC profile for your printer using a spectrophotometer.

I have calibrated with the Spyder, its pretty good...better than before. But yeah, getting my Epson 1280 to print good proofs (like being able to match a PMS) would be a nice trick, but I just don't know how.
