In case of seperation, what laws does apply? My wife want me to come to a family court so we can divide bills and debts ect...I'm fine with that...I want to pay my part. We are not leagaly seperatetd yet, we just seperated. But I wonder, will I have to pay her every month since she never helped with the economi or never tryed to get a job? she got a job, but she makes her own scedule, so she dont work to regular or to much.
what can I expect?

different states have different rules for this sort of thing. anyone local (family/friend) you can direct your questions to?
i had friends in NC split up about a year ago and the husband pays alimony. but he left her for another woman, which may have factored into the equation.
seems like you're going to need a lawyer.
sorry about your situation.

yeah, cheating makes it diffrent...but none of that have taken place to my knowledge...and I tryed with family and friends, but nobody seems to know.

I was thinking since she never really made any money, that maybe I have to pay alimony to her anyway? but she did leave me...so maybe not?

is she capable of working?

Spix (skylark) man, I know you from way back and that sucks. Still in North Carolina?
Honestly, I can tell you to expect to be f*cked. That sucks man, get a good lawyer.

first thing I can say is to get a lawyer. my wife got pretty screwed from her first marriage because they had a ton of credit card debt and she pretty much supported him. she should have gotten her own ATTY but didn't and as a result, the judge split the debt between the two of them.
the problem starts when the ex-spouse fails to do thier part and pay off the debt or close out accounts here and there. if your name is attached to any of that stuff, you're going to have a hard time with further credit apps and so forth.
GET A LAWYER. Pronto.

if she left you - then no - alimony does not apply

get a good lawyer. this is america, man. with money and a good lawyer, we can get away from almost anything.

heheheh - and don't I know THAT for a fact!

yeah, she is capabel of working, and JazX: thanks, yeah still working in NC but I live in SC.
we do have alot of credit card debt...but since I was from another contry, it is her credit, but since i'm as much responisable for the debt i would like to pay half of it.
a lawyer dont sonud like a bad idea...just dont have the money.

Do it all out of court. You're adults, work it out.
Do a search for 'summary dissolution'. That's the do it your self divorce form.
My divorce ended up costing me $45 and it was really easy.
Unless she's being a cunt, in which case, yes, get a good lawyer.

gerbert..yeah....I hope we can work it out as adults. I just dont know what to expect from her anymore...i'm willing to give her all things we have and pay half of the debt.

Hey look you're Swedish right? You plan on having some relationship with her in the future? At all? If not, just break it off clean. Is it in your name, any of this property and debt? If not just walk away my friend. It's a system, work it. :)

Tråkigt att höra! Hoppas det ordnar sig!

Jox: tack. jag hoppas, men det ser morkt ut. tyvarr sa kan jag antagligen inte stanna har heller...vilket jag skulle vilja ett litet tag till.

well...I guess it can be worse then before since i'm the one that have been paying for everything in the past.
