so far there are no viruses for Mac OS X, there is a concept virus that a french anti-virus company created just to say they found one, in an effort to sell more Software. But you dont really need any antivirus, BUT I have Norton AV installed on my mac only because i get PC Files, and although if there is a virus it wont affect my mac, I can still prevent passing it on to a client or a service provider.
Firewall i would say yes. Mac OS X has one built in. just go to system pref > Sharing > Firewall and enable it.
But if you have an Airport base station or a netgear/linksys router, they are usually enough protection.

Virex 7 seems to work pretty well. Although, i've never gotten the auto update to work. I always have to download the update directly.
I'd probably recommend Norton programs if you don't have a .Mac account.
