i am building out some comps now for a new site and am wanted a flash module to sit in an area where drop downs off the main menu may need to go over it
if i am remembering correctly, won't the flash obj. always want to stack on top even above the drop down divs ?
thx, as i don't want to plan a schema that involves heavy js workarounds

that is correct.
to avoid this you can load yr swf into an empty mc below yr drop downs, rather than loading yr swf's into levels

I think you are talking about seting wmode to transparent no?
- versa0
u mean, have a div with a lower level assignment, house an empty swf that loads in an swf on page load ?
not sure what u mean actually
that would seem to be the same difference
?

no, ultimately i just want a way to have the drop downs always show up on top of, the flash module

it does not matter what z-index you assign to the div... flash will always be on the top layer.
already tried everything. if there is a solution... i would eat it up and be soooooooo happy.

unfortunately, the transparent wmode only works on the windows side... not macs

Not sure about that, you should be able to do it. I've never heard that it doesn't work with Mac as well. IE is for Mac too.

wrong - it works with macs too

Jazx : i am sorry for doubting ... you are right.. i just did a quick sample... but i swear, i was presented this problem a few months ago... and it did not work... but that was before osx...
i am happy.
thanks
- kafeen330

wmode works on mac, but can slow down animations terribly sometimes on safari...something to keep in mind...

hey look, sometimes you develop applications that aren't going to always work 100%. Maybe that type of scenario will not run well on Safari. It's not always gonna' be perfect.

Some info here on getting it to work on various browsers...
