I just got a new powerbook with airport extreme on it.
And works nice, untill I go to my room (also office) where the signal is very low, is jumping from 1 to 2 lines and sometimes it disconnect. If i go to the living room, where the wireless is, works perfect.
Before I was using my old powerbook, with an external wireless card and I had no problems in my room.
Is there anything I can do to my computer so the signal gets better?
Moving the wireless hub is not an option.
And I wanted to sell the external card with the old powerbook.anyone had this problem?

weird...guess you could just get a hard connexion in your room. 10/100 or something.

open computer up
make sure AE card is tightly connected
reboot
I had the same problem - the AE card wasn't all the way in

Yup make sure the connection on the airport extreme card is solid.. more then likely the issue.
if that doesnt work then look at the AE settings and check signal strength, and if its brodcasting in both b and g. if this is the only computer using the AE then u should set it to g.

Thanks !
Anyone else?!

make sure that you have the wireless signal emitting from an open area. You don't want it close to anything metal, a tv, stereo, wires, speakers, microwave, etc. Nothing electronic close to it. That interferes with the signal being transmitted.

"if that doesnt work then look at the AE settings and check signal strength, and if its brodcasting in both b and g. if this is the only computer using the AE then u should set it to g."Where do I check if its broadcasting in B and G?
i know the signal is low though

oh wow..
I didnt know about the tv soler,
the wireless station is right next to the tv, but like I said before, with my old powerbook I didnt have any problems

In the settings for the AE there is a signal strength section where you can set the AE to broadcast a purposfully stronger signal over a shorter distance.
Basically you set the radius signal of your Base Station. If you shorten the radius you can boost the signal within that radius for a stronger connection

also another thing to check would be if you have interference (can't remember specific name) checkmarked on the AE settings and on your powerbook.
If you have cordless phones you may also want to change your channel of your AE signal so it doesnt recieve interference from the phones.

"In the settings for the AE there is a signal strength section"
Is that under System Preferences/ Network Settings/Airport?
I can't find it
I think I fixed the problem though, I went to check the router and it fell from the table and the antenna was down. I have a better signal now!
It's always the stupid thing!
thanks everyone!
