Hi everyone !
I tought this this should be easy but I cant get it to work,
I`ve made a flash menu and when u click one of the links
a letter (image) appears above, first link is named ARTISTER and when u press it the letter A appears, SKIVOR the letter S and so on.... and at the same time the link jumps to a different .html page with different content.now the problem is that when a new page loads the flash menu resets to the first frame.. and I want it to maintain the correct frame accordingly.. see where im getting at ??
heres the main menu
http://www.student.hig.se/~kp01s…
I`ve only linked the two first buttons in flash artister and skivor the other three you can just click them and see how i would like it to change.and heres the main flash file
http://www.student.hig.se/~kp01s…I think I should add something in the html files maybe to make them start at the correct frame??
dont know shit right now heh..I'd be very grateful if someone can help me with this,
thanks a lot !!

not sure if i totlally understand what you are trying to do, but you can do something like this...
pass a varible to your swf from your html... and do a conditional (loop) in flash that checks the value of that variable and controls the movie accordingly...
such as, in your html, target your swf like-->
"main.swf?myLocation=home"where myLocation is passed to the swf as being equal to home, then check it in the swf, like:
if (myLocation == "home"){
gotoAndPlay(5);
} else {
// do something else...
gotoAndStop(1);
}hope this helps...

Shit ... it doesnt work with Explorer only firefox ..damn
- dbloc0
you can always use frames.
ha haa.
- tGP0
it should be cross browser...
post a link to where you are using it...
- Mirpour0
ok just a sec ....( frames cant have them )
- tGP0
try putting the passed vars in both places that the swf is referenced in the markup-->
where it says param name as well as embed src...
- stewart0
interresting stuff tGP
is it possible to make everything after the "?" variable with javascript or something?? i've been looking for something like that a long time...
main.swf?+variable
- tGP0
stewart: havent tried it...shouldt be a problem to on the fly formulate that var...
this method of passing vars to flash is how the flash 'satay' method(xhtml legal flash markup) works as well, read through this article, it may inspire/shed light on some things for your to experiment with...

from the structure you seem to be working towards U might as well make seperate menu swfs for each new HTML u load.
Or..u could use frames and load new htmls into that..or Use cookies for this .... waste of time, but might be a good lesson for u
- unfittoprint0
you could always pass variables through javascript 2 flash/trough different pages
http://www.htmlgoodies.com/beyon…but
why not just use an iframe?
- Mirpour0
hey! well if I make seperate flash menus for each html then filesize for the whole site would be too much maybe, im working with a friend who is supposed to do all the coding while Im doing the graphics and a simple menu in flash and frames is not an option where u get scroll lists
we have a guestbook aand when u post messages it could fuck up the site, cookies dont know :) theres a lot I have to learn.. javascript shit have to look into that and there was something with iframes, my friend tried to find a javascript that made the frame as high as
the html document so the scroll list wouldnt appear but it seemed to be too much
trouble?thanks for the help guys! gonna keep trying

it's because of the placement of one small object over another. Angle that somehow
- Mirpour0
you mean in the flash file ? the buttons or the big letters

I say build your contents in separate html files and load them through iframe so basically your index is a structure of iframes creating where you top menu is in flash and on the bottom if you would like is just html for each different thing so in your swf menu call the name iframe area you want to load the proper html to come up with target.
I hope this helped
