Bad Video!

Does anyone know why when I export my video out of AE (6.5), I get a video that looks like it was cut in half by a diagonal blade and pasted together. Half of the video is hanging off the ends of the canvas and coming in from the other side. It's all wack! I've never seen this before... but then again, I don't do video all the time. Any help or pointers would be great.
thanks in advance

Are you using any effects on the video??

Render Queue / Render Settings / Quality = Best
Try that
- yarsrevenge0
no... no effects... just simply converting an MOV into an MPEG/AVI
Settings are set to Best

Have you interpreted the fields correctly. Click the footage and press apple-F

Change your codec, it'sprobably set to video, you more than likey want DV-NTSC for photographic based work

show us a frame grab it sounds extraordinary
- yarsrevenge0
how do I interpret the fields? Upper first? Que pasa here?
- paddywop0
why didn't i think of that... Doh
- paddywop0
if you don't know if your footage has fields then try each option (there's only three). I'm not utterly convinced that this is the problem, but worth a try.

yah guys... even more fishy now... when I try to import the footage into AE that is dodgy, AE crashes (trying to get a screen grab)
- chossy0
it could be interlace flicker.
!!! a real long shot though
effects > video > reduce interlace flicker softness adjust to a small degree.

here's a long shot. Turn your computer off and chill for an hour, it might just be AE behaving strangely. Sounds sutupid, but sometimes it does work thats exactly what it is. good luck man, i'm going home.

Ok.. i'll try both. Thanks a bunch guys. I appreciate your time!

if these things don't work send me a picture and I will have a closer look.

why not just use quicktime if youre just converting it to avi/&c?
