New After Effects

I've been trying to buy After Effects 6.5, but suppliers are saying there is a new one coming out. I can't find any news on this though.

i was reading the other day about creative suite 2 on some website i dont remember.
the thing is coming out on march i think.

it pisses me off so-ooooo much how AE isn't backwards compatible. if you ever have to work with other people sharing projects don't upgrade cos no-one will be able to open your files. grr

AE seems to be one of the lesser upgraded prgrams.. i'm the art director of a local TV station and we only have 5.5 here.. had to put in for 6.5 but now hearing about 7.. might wait til march for it..
a lot of places i've contracted at as well.. they'll upgrade to CS.. but when it comes to AE.. they figure.. eh.. 5.5 or 6 will work..
I can't even use text layers here.. gotta make a solid and apply the text effect.. which is horrible if you want to scale larger than you created it.. :\

del_razor, I would avoid the text effect if I was you. Make your text in illustrator and import it...
until you upgrade that is!
The CS upgrade is for photoshop , illustrator etc, not AE as far as I know...

AE 7? My company is sstill at the beginning of upgrading us to AE 6.5 . They became so tight about buying licencing for copies that we're falling behind at a drastic rate, and because two of us are on 6.5 and the rest on 5.5.1 we cant share projects as vespa's point was. Pain in the arse.
So... is AE 7 definitely coming in march?
