flash button help

  I have a scrolling text box, the down up buttons work. easy enough. The stuipd problem I cant figure out is how to have the box scroll with the button still pressed. What is this script? Is is a variable/ condition something? just how to have the button still pressed and the action continue ? not using the ghetto scroll pane thing included in flash.
  anyhelp appreciated. I have a feeling this is really easy and I'm making it really confusing.
