I remember my first design job. I worked on a project very nervously and was told it wasn't going in the right direction. So I buckled down and busted my ass and turned out some amazing work. The art director just looked right at the printout and said, 'forget it' and simply dropped the print in the garbage right infront of me. Needless to say the work they did like was beyond corny.

my boss keeps giving me "call for entries" forms and ask if we have anything to enter.
a couple of weeks ago I told him "as long as ____ _____ is the creative director, we won't have anything to enter"
hee, hee

It's all part of the job tho. My first few months there I was all concerned with whether or not I was doing well and doing good work, then after getting the grasp of what was really important to them, I eased into a carefree attitude and did wha tI had to before the clock hit 5:30. I certainly felt that my true design sense and talents were underappreciated, but this was balanced by returning that same unappreciation to them for being so lame. I eventually moved on to bigger and better.

choose which bridges to burn carefully in your career. you dont get many opportunities. but when you do it, do it fuckin hard to make up for the other times!
