darien, you have some nice interesting work in your portfolio. you site is easy to understand, navigate and is clean as hell.
my advice though. if you're looking for a job never mix business with politics. at least not for now. seeing as how 52% of the population voted for the guy, odds are the person interviewing you is a bush supporter. you probably will not get hired even though you have some nice work. try to stay away from politics and personal opinions like that on your portfolio site. if you want to get all into politics start another site and do it there.
one more minor thing, if you're going to write like this...
My name is Darien Birks, I'm a... keep it like that capitalizing when needed. you switched it up with 'peace', 'portfolio' 'illustration' and what not. pick one or the other, don't use both though.very cool otherwise though.

I looked directly past the 'respond' button and started a whole new broadcast w/ your name as the title. Sorry about that. In case you miss it, I was basically thanking you for all of the positive and helpul feedback that you gave me on my site, I truly appreciate it and will definitely consider making those changes on my next update. Thanks again...

Darien, is the work on your site stuff that was made for class projects at SCAD?
- blaw0
i agree with k0na except for the capitalization comments. you can get away with 'peace' etc. lowercase due to the way you've used them.
i look at it as the opposite of bold or caps. calls attention, but in a quiet way, or sorts the list nicely as on your contact page.
nice work, too.

Greg,
Only two of them are SCAD projects, the rest are random works that I created, all in fun. At SCAD, they tend to keep the good projects for documentation, som most of my large projects are not in my possession...lol...but when I get them back I will post my class projects on the site...
Thanks for checking the site out man.

Thanks so much. I really appreciate you taking the time to view the work. Enjoy your evening.
And again, I will definitely make the necessary changes to make the site work more.
Thanks again!

Yeah, my professors like to keep stuff for awhile too. Are you mainly looking to get freelance illustration work, or design projects?
- darienbirks0
I think it's cool that my professors like my work...i think it's un-cool that they never give it back LOL!!!
Mainly I want to deal w/ print work, corporate identity, websites, basically anything dealing w/ graphic design. I love illustrative work, but I wouldn't want to focus on that alone.
I just landed an internship w/ BFG Communications Design Firm, so I am sure I will learn more about what interests me from there dude.
What school are you attending?
- greg0
Winthrop University. not too far from scad actually. good ole Rock Hill, SC.
- darienbirks0
Awesome!...
Okay I finally finished going through your site. You have really good work as well bro. Keep up the good work. Do you want to stay in SC after college?
BFG is actually in Hilton Head, SC. I'm there every Thrus. and Fri. Then back to Savannah, the commute is awful! lol...

Great work Darien. We need to get together one more time before we get out of here. Salayman too.

what k0na is telling you is 'The Gospel'. I concur with the man. Don't bark at people with your personal preferences. With that being said, GOOD LUCK! :)
- darienbirks0
Yes we definitely have to.
I just got an internship w/ BFG graphic design firm in Hilton Head, SC...i start the 13th of Jan. I'm stoked!
I can finally step up to the big leagues like the one and only D. Chase McClure!!!
Rand showed your cd cover in class dude, it was awesome, very clean and precise!...
- darienbirks0
yep. i can see your point JazX...thanks a lot.

Dairen,
On the Spike Lee, and Dave Chappelle illy's, what is the logo in the background?I saw someone, I think Josh Mason, with that on a shirt today.
- JazX0
In only that you want to do well for yourself, so never assume that since someone is in design that they are 100% liberal. That's all. :)
- darienbirks0
Chase,
The logo that is in the bg in those two illustrations is actually the logo from my OLD t-shirt company, transcend, which means to rise above, so I created a cloud w/ an arrow pointing upward, representing progression, uprising, etc. Too bad that the t-shirt company went to shambles LOL...so that nice logo went to waste, haha. I had some of them printed though actually, and a couple of people in Savannah have a few of the shirts, maybe you saw one of them, who knows.
