I need help adding acrobat distiller as one of my printers on my new mac at work. It doesn't show up in my printer list automatically nor does it show up as an option to add as a printer. My IT guy installed CS on there and I don't want to use distiller as a standalone program.

Come on, people, help a brother out.

can't you just drop the file on distiller? i have no idea about the ppd settings in os x, or if there are any. you want to be able to print to distiller from illy or indesign right?

10.3 doesn't use the Distiller PPD. Use "Acrobat PDF". that's what we use. if that hasn't shown up yet, my production manager says that using "Device Independent" until "Acrobat PDF" shows up will work, too.

did that work?

nope...I tried to manually add Acrobat PDF in the printers list, but it froze while it tried to create it. It doesn;t give me the PDFX1a settings or any of the other settings that distiller gives. I wan tto try to skip the step where you print to a ps file and then drop it into distiller. I am on OSX. I know it can be done, bc I did it at the last place I worked at. Same setup and all (but I didn't install it before). Any more help please? I am trying to do this form illustrator, not ID2.

If anyone else is having this problem, install the acrobat 6.0.2 update.
