how exactly would this work? i know apple sells the hd monitors, but what about the 99.999% of computer content that is not high-def. i'm guessing these monitors are mainly for hd video editing? is there some type of computer equivalent standard to NTSC and all that shit? just wondering.

i had believed that high definition video, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p, just meant video in high set resolutions. and apple HD monitors just had high enough resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio. unless they can display HD content through a HD receiver.

no HD just means three resolutions:
720p = 1280X720
1080i/1080p = 1920X1080if your resolution is one of those, you're displaying "HD" there's no special VGA setting for HD
