  how did they do the thing with the flash movie in the middle to get it to stretch forever long like that? wouldnt making a flash movie that wide increase the file size?

  first off the thing is set at 100% of the browser. Being vector based it will still look pretty clear, for most of the components within that movie. They are probably using a base movie and bringing in multiple movies and just using AS to control how they move and where the placement is.
