I have been working as a full-time, motion designer/ etc. for a local affiliate tv station for about a year and a half. When i view some other designers work like that of http://transistorstudios.com/#
I am in aw! Incredible stuff and i get so discouraged because my stuff doesn't look that clean. I've been trying to teach myself 3d studio max but it sure is time consuming.

it's better to feel that way than to be over confident of yourself. that way at least will make you progress. i think it's good to be never satisfied with what you make.

was thinking about that myself
but its good to set goals.

yep. if you don't have goals it's all meaningless at one stage.

i'm definitely never satasfied! See your point rabattski but...
I wish I could sit back from my work and say ahhh...now that is quality.

It's all about how much time you are willing to put into it. A year ago I was doin' graphics all night and day, pretty much...now I have a serious GF and she takes up all my extra time...but if you are willing to be a serious nerd for a while, you can improve.

lesson 1: don't take a gf :)
see contia1, that's actually never gonna happen if you're serious in what you do. not only do you change over time as a person, your skills, your taste etc. change as well. so perfectness is never a static thing.
i think it's more a quest to reach perfectness than a goal. and that quest is sort of the fuel that makes you go out and create stuff all day.

btw tools don't make the designer. some tools make life easier but it doesn't make you a better designer.

poke around here long enough and you'll see plenty of talent. plenty enough to keep any ego in check.
i don't see that as a bad thing.
