similar in rendering. i would go with the previous advice... and here is my two cents... put aside for a bit... and come back to it later.. your mind is still working on it though youre not totally obsessed about it.
also, break down the goals.. what is your client... what does the name mean, what are their goals... then look at a book of icons and symbols as starting points.

I would say scrap it. You can do better - it seems like a really canned solution right now.
what makes these guys special? how can you make them seem unique and show the spirit of the org.?

hmm... might just be a style that's been used a lot, not that the graphic has specifically been used.

Similar to the Sydney or Barcelona Games Olympic logo? The leaping figure. I've seen a few children's medical center hospitals with a similar look as well.
