you're better off getting a box, filling it full of goods, marking it 'Flood Victims' and sending it to some post office in that region.

- ricstultz0
I just sent em some loot too... man, what a sad event.
- Stylus0
hey jazx i'm gonna send a parcel via world vision > i wouldn't give red cross cash again after they fucked up so big with Bali (i.e. cash was spent on stupid shit instead of going to the victims)
but seriously what kind of shit should i send you reckon like canned food and stuff or what?
- JazX0
Well that's what I mean, I don't trust those giant mumbo-jumbo 90% administrative orgs. I've seen them live-in-action. So many middlemen it's sick.
Be honest, I don't rightly know, how about clothes, shoes and lightweight stuff...?
I once did an internship for WV. They are an ok (realistic) bunch for being completely conservative.

my bro's wife just tried to unload a stack of his old clothes on me.. there's gonna be some homeless types looking like designer types circa 2001.

i thought the Red Cross Donations's supposed to help crises around the world, no?
- JazX0
I don't mean to knock them, but lately, the Red Cross has had some F*Ups. Although, ultimately, I'm sure they mean well.
- mowax0

I started working for the American Red Cross about 5 months ago and I flat out asked them about the whole money not going where it was supposed to thing after 9/11...they said that was a mistake (obviously) and that ever since they have made sure the money goes where it's supposed to.
Also note that the American Red Cross is not the same as the International Red Cross. They are partner organizations and the American Red Cross is helping them raise money (make sure you designate the International Response Fund).
The money goes right to the International Red Cross to help with the Tsunami relief.
Money is definitely the best way to help right now. It provides immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance, and other support to those in need.
