does anyone know of a script that would allow for images to be protected from download? i.e. user tries to right-click an image and an alert is brought up saying something about not allowing images to be saved. doesn't necessarily have to work on a mac, clients don't know any world outside of ie on pc's....

I have been having this same issue and came to the conclusion that there really isnt a whole lot you can do to stop someone from copying images if they want to.
BTW- that right-click blocker is pathetic. It only works in IE. You said that your client doesnt know any better, so it might get you paid, but they are beign incredibly myopic.TR1

there is no such thing as protecting images.
even if you put the script..PRINT SCREEN
or
ctrl apple 3
or any screen capture tool.
the only way to protect them is not put them up

only a dum-dum would even try, it is a waste of time to try and prevent people from saving the images. If they really want it, you won't deter them with crap like obfuscators or no right click.

I just read something about a php script that adds a kind of layer on the image if it is downloaded.
(A kind of noise that is suppresed in the browser... with php)
sorry I haven't more infos about it, saw it in a magazine in a shop.

i think that we all know the score...
havign said all that, if they want to pay you for adding the right-click disabler, you should absolutely take the money. Their fault for being retarded. If i know clients, they will probably all shit their pants when they see it and jerk each other off because they have never seen it before.
Happy Holidays to you.

thanks for the link and info guys. yeah, i'm totally aware that there are shit tons of ways to get the image if you really want it (printscreen or cmd-shift-3 ((et al))), but like i said, the client does know anything outside of ie on a pc, i'm certain they'll, umm.....jerk each other off after they see this.
