i have this job and its a clean up job basically. i have to take this catalog design and fix the type, resize it and re-layout some of the information to be comprehensive. The catalog is 75-80 pages and was given to me as 22pdf files of which i have to open in illustrator and make the changes.
question:
ive never really charged by the hour cause its really hard to estimate how long i will spend on the job including dealing with the client and going back for the second and third round of changes. i usually charge by the job but for some reason with this one i cant decide on what its worth. anyone have any words of wisdom?

thats a toughy. You gotta over-charge if possible. Endless problems and issues await.

won't the type end up as a bunch of unrelated lines in illy?

yeh, theres gonna be new text sent to me.

and look it at it again, i am probably better of going into a layout gram and redoing it properly.

i charge 80 bucks an hour for damage control - it will take you 3 times as long to fix then it would to rebuild the thing.
