Why do tags span the entire width of the div it sits in isntead of just the length of the text? Mmh?
I set a background color for these tags, and it looks crap now :\

FYI - lots of tags have default properties.
Even DIVs have default properties...(eg. they display:block;)

i generally use "span" to controll my headings...especially when using sIFR..
as far as i know "span" has no defaults....

span is good. but it does default to display:inline. However, it is overruled by just about any other tag's display property.

h1, h2, h3, etc. tags default to block because they're headings, thus the "h".

"display: inline"
why have I NEVER known this?
