I'm considering having my lower ribs removed so I can satisfy my own needs!

nice camera. can understand yer happy about it.

sf2, keep in mind that although that camera has a large area ccd sensor that the lense measurements aren't exactly what they say. you'll notice that especially in wide angle lenses. but you'll have more tele.
- SF20
thanks for the link eficks. That looks very worth my while.
Cheers

thanks rabattski. How much difference in measurements are we talking? a wide angle lens would probably be my next purchase
- rabattski0
you have to check how large that large area is. should say in the manual. see normally with a non-digital 35 mm slr you have a 35 mm "sensor" (it's not really a sensor). there are full range 35 mm ccd sensors but those cameras are very expensive. starts around 1100 euro. now most digital cameras have a factor of 1.5 (i think your's is smaller since it says large area, not sure though). but with a 1.5 factor and a 28 mm lense you actually have a 42 mm lense. but with a 200 mm lens you have a 300 mm lense. so for wide angle you'll notice problems, tele is better.

Just looking at the manual now and you are dead on. its got a box which says "The format size of a 35mm lens is approximately 1.5 times larger than that of the istDS. Divide the focus point of the 35mm lens by 1.5 when using."
Thanks for alerting me to that
- rabattski0
1.5? why does it say large area on most digital SLR review sites then? that's odd. 1.5 is quite standard so you can't really call it large area. anyways does it say divide? if i'm not mistaken it should be multiplied. making a 35 mm lense 52.5 mm lense.
- SF20
It says divide yep. After that bit it says "Inversely, multiply the focus distance of the lens used with the istDS by 1.5 to determine the focus distance for 35mm cameras"

Post some pictures when you get the chance I am interested in this camera. I understand you can use old pentax lenses on it.
- rabattski0
sf2, smart guys over @ pentax :) make you think you get a ultra wide angle :) so in your case you should multiply.
- rabattski0
can you really use old pentax lenses on it? that would be quite positive if that's true.

I've got a little photoalbum up here of pics i've taken over the last few days.
I got a Sigma 18-125mm lens with the camera.
